Cleanliness that protects performance

Cleanliness for critical high-tech applications

In high-vacuum and ultra-high-vacuum systems, microscopic contamination can affect outgassing, leak tightness, service life or the reproducibility of an entire machine. We therefore treat cleanliness as an integral part of material selection, machining, handling and assembly rather than as a final process step.

Our approach is suitable for challenging materials and critical applications. Examples include complex parts made from copper alloys, aluminium, stainless steel and lead, where porosity, oxidation, geometry and surface condition influence the final vacuum performance.

Applications

For environments where clean must also be demonstrably clean

We support OEMs and system suppliers that cannot compromise on technical cleanliness, vacuum performance or reproducible product quality.

01

Semiconductor and high-tech systems

Critical components and (sub)assemblies for high-vacuum and ultra-high-vacuum environments where organic and particulate contamination must be strictly controlled.

02

Analytical and medical equipment

Precision parts for analytical instruments, electron microscopes and medical systems with demanding requirements for reliability, surface quality and contamination control.

03

Challenging materials and geometries

Tailored processes for complex shapes, bores, cavities and material combinations, including copper alloys and lead with specific cleaning challenges.

High-vacuum and ultra-high-vacuum cleaning

A cleaning route tailored to the part, material and end application

Every component is different. We select the appropriate process route based on the material, geometry, surface condition, previous operations and agreed cleanliness requirements. Where appropriate, this combines automated wet cleaning, ultrasonic cleaning, CNp, rinsing with ultrapure water and controlled drying.

  • Automated wet cleaning, ultrasonic cleaning and CNp
  • Project-specific cleaning routes for complex parts and assemblies
  • Familiar with Grade 4, Grade 3 and Grade 2 requirements under ASML GSA 07 2XXX and Thermo Fisher Scientific QEO-11-070
  • Also available as a standalone cleaning service for customer-supplied parts
  • Controlled handling to minimise recontamination after cleaning

Cleanroom assembly

From clean component to controlled (sub)assembly

After cleaning, we can assemble precision components in a controlled cleanroom environment. Our formally classified facility includes an ISO 8 cleaning area, ISO 6 assembly with local ISO 5 work zones, and ISO 7 packaging. The exact route is defined according to your product specification and risk profile.

  • Precision assembly and (sub)assemblies
  • Ionisation for controlled dissipation of static charge
  • Project-specific work instructions, controls and traceability
  • Kitting and packaging at part or assembly level
  • Also available as a standalone assembly service for supplied parts
  • Ready for the agreed next step at the customer’s site

Standalone services

Cleaning and assembly without us manufacturing the part

Kusters Goumans can also be engaged solely for cleaning, cleanroom assembly, inspection, testing and/or cleanroom packaging. We handle both components manufactured in-house and customer-supplied parts and (sub)assemblies.

Following a technical intake, we agree the process route, incoming condition, acceptance criteria, documentation and packaging. This allows you to add our cleanroom expertise and capacity precisely where required in your existing supply chain.

Inspection and verification

Confidence before a component is released

Cleanliness and vacuum suitability depend on more than the cleaning process alone. We therefore combine visual inspection and product-specific verification with bake-out, leak testing and agreed reporting.

Bright-light inspection of a cleaned precision component

Bright light and microscopy

Visual inspection in dedicated inspection rooms, supplemented by UVA and microscopy with camera recording where required by the product specification.

Helium leak testing of a high-vacuum component

Helium leak testing

Helium leak tests for leak-tightness verification, tailored to the agreed test method and acceptance criteria.

Vacuum bake-out and cleanroom packaging at Kusters Goumans

Vacuum bake-out and packaging

Controlled bake-out to reduce outgassing, followed by cleanroom packaging. Residual gas analysis (RGA) can be carried out on request by reputable partners in our region.

End-to-end control

From raw material to ready-to-use assembly

Aligning precision machining, cleaning, inspection, assembly and packaging within one supply chain reduces handovers and improves control of critical product characteristics. If you select a standalone service, we connect seamlessly to your existing process and product specification.

  1. AnalysisDefine material, geometry, risks and cleanliness requirements.
  2. Precision machiningProduce complex components with subsequent cleaning in mind.
  3. CleaningPerform the appropriate HV or UHV cleaning route under controlled conditions.
  4. Verification & assemblyInspect, test and assemble to the product specification.
  5. PackagingCleanroom-pack and document the product for secure transfer.

Materials and assemblies

Experience with both standard and challenging materials

We currently clean precision components and assemblies made from a range of metals and engineering plastics, including:

  • Stainless steel: AISI 303, 304, 304L, 310, 310S and 316L
  • Aluminium: EN AW-6060 and EN AW-6082
  • Copper and alloys: oxygen-free copper, CuAl8, CuSn6, CuSn8, CuZn39Pb3 and MoCu30
  • Special materials: titanium Grade 2 and 5, tantalum 99.85%, Kovar, tungsten wire and PEEK
  • Assemblies containing PbSb4 or lead combined with stainless steel, aluminium or copper alloys

Material, coating, geometry and incoming condition determine whether a standard routesuitable or a separate technical intake is required. See also our broader overview materials for precision components.

Quality and ready-to-use delivery

Less handling. Less contamination risk. Greater confidence in your assembly.

One partner for critical components and (sub)assemblies helps reduce internal steps, transport movements and transfer risks. Even if you outsource only cleaning or assembly, you receive a product that is ready for the agreed high-vacuum next step.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about high-vacuum cleaning and cleanroom assembly

Which cleanroom zones does Kusters Goumans use?
Our formally classified facility includes an ISO 8 cleaning area, ISO 6 assembly with local ISO 5 work zones, and ISO 7 packaging. The required environment and process route are tailored to the product specification.
What is the difference between high-vacuum and UHV cleaning?
UHV applications generally have stricter requirements for organic contamination, particles and outgassing than high-vacuum applications. The appropriate cleaning route depends on the material, geometry, surface condition and agreed acceptance criteria.
Which parts and materials can be processed?
We clean stainless steel, aluminium, copper and copper alloys, titanium, tantalum, Kovar, tungsten wire and PEEK, as well as material combinations containing lead or PbSb4. Material, coating, geometry and incoming condition determine the route, so every new request is technically assessed.
Which inspections and tests are available?
Depending on the product specification, we can provide bright-light and UVA inspection, microscopy, vacuum bake-out and helium leak testing. Residual gas analysis (RGA) is currently performed on request by reputable partners in our region.
Can customer-supplied parts also be cleaned or assembled?
Yes. Cleaning and assembly are available as standalone services for third parties. Following a technical intake, we agree the incoming condition, process route, acceptance criteria, documentation and packaging.
Can Kusters Goumans also assemble and cleanroom-pack parts?
Yes. After cleaning, we can assemble, inspect and test precision parts, provide assembly-level kitting and cleanroom packaging. Packaging and documentation are tailored to the application, transport and receiving process.
